Talk Title: “Regenerating Disaster Struck Communities”
Bob Stilger, PhD, is an activist-scholar who partners with locals to regenerate their community before and after disaster. Bob worked for 6 years with communities in Japan after 3.11.11 and he continues to return several times a year for continuing work. He’s published on his work in Japan in Japanese and in English with AfterNow: When We Cannot See the Future, Where Do We Begin? Currently, his nonprofit, NewStories, is focusing on the fire affected communities of Northern California. Bob has also recently worked with communities across the continental US, Alaska, Philippines and the South Pacific.
He will talk about Regenerating Disaster Struck Communities through preparation, recovery and regeneration. Disasters are becoming more frequent and we need new strategies and plans to survive.

Stephen Murphy-Shigematsu, PhD, Stephen Murphy-Shigematsu trained and taught in East Asian medicine, yoga, and psychology in Japan and at Harvard University and the University of Tokyo.
